My 94 year old mother was in the care of Waldo Rios and his Knights of Comfort staff or the last 6 months of her life. Simply put, Waldo is an incredible human being. His compassion, knowledge, and expertise in this field cannot be overstated. He is an angel on this earth! He and his entire staff comforted my mother and our family throughout this extremely emotional "end of life" stage with constant communication, professionalism, and empathy. This is my family's second incredibly positive experience with Waldo. My father-in-law was also under Knights of Comfort hospice care when he passed away from a lengthy illness two years ago. We called him on Monday to schedule an appointment and he arrived within hours. He made my mother-in-law, Carol, feel very comfortable about her condition. His care, compassion and kindness were over and above what we expected. Waldo made sure she was comfortable and had everything she needed. Carol passed within 48 hours. Countless medication revisions, bed and wheelchair adaptations, and visits to make her ( and the family) feel comfortable. He felt like family and we will miss him. Sara, the chaplain, prayed with mother when she was able to respond and later, held her hand and read scriptures. Jackie Kelley, Social Worker, helped Mom and me by visits and phone calls. The team also offered me comfort, education, and anchoring so that I could have the gift and honor of accompanying him. We brought my Mother-in-law to live with us She lived in Wisconsin. She was with us for 11 months. Rheta was a few weeks from turning 90. We met Waldo when he came to our home. He was kind, very informative and he had a sense of humor. Humor and kindness goes along way when dealing with a very stressful situation. We could call or text him at any moment, be it day or night. He was very thorough. He checked in and made sure we had everything we needed to take better care of her. Waldo was absolutely wonderful! He was with us the morning she started going down hill quickly. He was back with us at the end of Moms journey. It helped us tremendously. Shunda was a great help as well. She came 2 times a week to bathe Mom. Shunda was really good to her. It was wonderful to have the same people come to our home for Mom. It was less confusing for her.
